Diocese of Youngstown ---- St. Paul Church Child Protection Requirements
Since Troop 35 is chartered with St. Paul Church, all adult leaders in the troop are considered volunteers at the parish. As such, we are obligated to follow the guidelines mandated by the Youngstown Diocese regarding volunteers. These rules apply to anyone over the age of 18 who is involved in Troop 35 activities.
All volunteers who work directly with Children (a child is anyone under the age of 18) are required to do the following:
Attend a Virtus Child Protection In-Service. This 2-1/2 hour seminar is offered periodically at St. Paul’s and at other churches in the Diocese. Check the VIRTUS website at Session Listings for upcoming classes. In the Session Listings, scroll-down until you find “Youngstown (Diocese)”.
Be fingerprinted and have a BCI Report submitted to St. Paul’s. You can have this done at the BMV located at 3187 Whitewood St. NW, North Canton. If you have lived outside the state of Ohio, an FBI Report is required.
According to In Bishop Bonnar's "Letter of Promulgation" on page 4 of the Dioceses' Safe-Environment-Policy pdf, it states this: The adult curriculum will primarily consist of the VIRTUS program, including the initial training entitled "Protecting God's Children," as well as continuing education modules to be completed every five years.
A copy of the Diocese of Youngstown's "Safe Environment Policy" is -> here.

Just in time for Summer Camp...
Troop35 maintains a uniform closet of used, gently worn, scouting related clothing and equipment. Any Troop35 scout or adult leader can request clothing/equipment from the uniform closet; all items are provided free of charge. The troop also welcomes any donations of scouting related clothing/equipment that are in good condition. So if your son has had a growth spurt recently, please utilize the uniform closet to prepare for upcoming camps and consider donating gently used scouting clothing/equipment to other scouts in the troop.
Please contact Mr. Benedetto for requests or questions about the Troop35 uniform closet
